Piece to Camera

Headshot Sessions

"Every person has their norm. And in that norm every person is a star. Olivier could stand on his head and still not be you. Only you can be you. What a privilege! Nobody can reach what you can if you do it. So do it.

We need your best, your voice, your body."

Stella Adler

Alongside your headshot, the most effective way of communicate your look and qualities as an actor is a showreel. Obtaining good quality content for a showreel can be a time consuming or expensive process. I've created the Piece to Camera sessions as a quick and easy way to start your showreel, or add some variety to an existing reel.

An actor's showreel is a vital tool for demonstrating your skills, your look, and your range. It's a quick, easy, and compelling way to show to an agent, director, or casting team what it is you can offer, and in this age of self-tapes and zoom auditions it's great to be able to send something remotely that you have control over, that you've had a chance to rehearse, and that presents your work as an actor as you want to be seen.

An actor rarely has have the luxury of ensuring the script is as good as it could be, or that the production values are as good as the performance. Although your reel should certainly be composed primarily of scenes with other actors, the monologue is a very affordable way to showcase how captivating you can be when given free run of the screen, with a script chosen or even written specifically to showcase your talents.

Before the session I'll ask you to send your chosen texts, or a selection if you need help choosing. I'll then ask for a simple voice recording of the scene, a cold read with no decisions made, just so I can hear how it sounds. If needs be I'll give a few technical or character notes in advance, but often we will just play with the piece on the day, doing a number of takes with a range of approaches, to see what feels best. We can then watch back and decide on the day, or I can send you the takes for you to choose your favourite for post production.

And not forgetting... your Headshots

Needless to say but I'll say it anyway... included in the package is your headshot session, bring as many looks as you like, and afterwards you'll receive a gallery of all the good shots from which you can choose 3 or 7 shots depending on the package for post-production editing, or add more images should you like for £10 per image, or an extra bundle to save money.

You can see a broad selection of my headshots and portraits here, and it's a good idea to have a read of my preparation page in advance of any booking so you're prepared.
